Requirements to Enroll in Confirmation Classes

To enroll in the Sacrament of Confirmation program, students must have completed one full year of high school level Catholic Faith Formation prior to beginning Confirmation preparation.

This requirement may be fulfilled through one of the following:

• One full year of Catholic Theology at a Catholic high school 

OR

• One full year of High School Sunday Faith Formation classes at St. Theresa Catholic Church that meets weekly 3:00-4:45 PM with a minimum completion of 80%  in attendance

Catechetical Year 2025-2026

Confirmation Day: Monday April 20, 2026

Student Requirements the Year

Faith Formation & Attendance

• Attend Sunday Mass weekly and all Holy Days of Obligation
• Maintain 80% attendance or higher in the second year of High School Sunday Faith Formation
• High School Sunday Faith Formation classes:
• Mandatory Orientation Sunday September 14th
• Begin Sunday, September 21st  
• Classes meet every Sunday 3:00-4:45pm
• If a student is sick or unable to attend an email or note is required. Please send email to highschool@sugarlandcatholic.com
• No make-up classes are available

Wednesday Confirmation Classes (Mandatory attendance)

• Begin Wednesday, October 22
• Meet every other Wednesday, 6:30–8:00 PM (approximately 10 classes total)
• Last Confirmation class is Wednesday, February 25th
• Students must complete 100% attendance (Mandatory)
• If a student knows they will be absent, they must email in advance to highschool@sugarlandcatholic.com 

Retreat Requirements

Students are required to attend two retreats in the year leading up to Confirmation Day:

1. Mandatory Confirmation Retreat: November 21-23rd 2025
2. One additional retreat of the student's choice:

• June 20-22, 2025 Steubenville Conference
• July 25-27, 2025 AYC Houston Youth Conference
• January 9-11, 2026 Winter Retreat
• March 20-22, 2026 Spring Retreat

Catechetical Year 2026-2027 (Dates to be announced)

1. Mandatory Confirmation Retreat: (Dates to be announced - TBA)
2. One additional retreat of the student's choice:

• Summer 2026 Steubenville Conference - TBA
• Summer 2026 AYC Houston Youth Conference - TBA
• Winter 2026 Retreat - TBA
• Spring 2027 Retreat - TBA

Community Service Requirements

• Complete 10 hours of community service through St. Theresa Catholic Church
• Service hours must be completed through or approved by St. Theresa
• Independent or unapproved activities will not be counted
• Opportunities will be provided throughout the year, including:
• Catholic Kids Camp (15+hrs and dates TBA)
• Miraculous Medal Making (sign-ups shared via email)

Sponsor & Confirmation Saint Requirements

• Select a Sponsor and a Confirmation Saint
• Students will learn about the lives of saints during the year and choose one as their patron.
• Select a Confirmation Sponsor
• Sponsors should be a Catholic role model in the student's life
• Additional details will be provided during Confirmation class.

Interviews

• Successful Youth Minister Interview (Gabe/Rocio) - March 2026
• Successful Priest Interview (with Fr. David) 
• Scheduled after successful Youth Minister Interview are completed

Spiritual Preparation

• Attend the mandatory Confirmation practice
• Saturday April 18th 2026 at 9:30am (meet at the church)
• For student and sponsor only (around 1hr long)
• Be in the State of Grace for Confirmation
• Frequent Confession is encouraged, especially within a week of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
